How to Think Like a Chief Learning Officer
Be on the winning team: align your training goals to business needs!
with Bill Cushard

With the rapid changes in the business landscape, every learning and development professional must flex their CLO muscles! This is your opportunity to learn what it takes to think like a CLO.

Meeting Take-aways:
  • Hear what the C-Suite really wants from an expert CLO.
  • Make distinctions: Data is the key, but do you know the difference between operating metrics and outcome/results-oriented metrics?
  • Learn the craft of aligning training goals with business goals.
  • Set a budget for your learning organization like a CLO! Your boss will love you!

Why is it important to think like a CLO? Because your organization must grow to keep its place in today’s market, and as an L&D professional, you are well-positioned to contribute to this goal. How? By starting to think and act like a CLO! The CLO role, just like other C-suite executive roles, exists to drive an organization to achieve or exceed its business goals. The CLO does that by developing human capital though talent management and learning initiatives, ensuring that people have the capabilities needed to perform well in their jobs. You already know a lot of the pieces, so come to learn how to put them all together, and in a compelling way for business leaders!

In this talk, How to Think Like a Chief Learning Officer, Bill Cushard, head of training at ServiceRocket, will share with you what he has done many times and help you develop a process for identifying and confirming an organization’s top goals, and then aligning the learning organization’s top goals, key metrics, and key initiatives to the organizational imperatives. By applying the process and strategies you will learn, you will be moving in the same direction as the leaders and having a positive impact on what they care most about most (and that’s a good formula for job security or more contracts) so that the learning organization can have the most direct impact as possible on those key business goals.
