Games & Gamification:
Differences, Challenges, and Solutions

with

Joe Halpin,

Terry Teplitz,

and Russ Powell

Effective learning is Relevant, Engaging, and Interactive

...

In this practical and engaging session,

you will gain new insights on the power of
Gamification when done right!...

When used effectively, Games and Gamification are powerful learning tools. They are particularly useful for framing learning experiences and practicing skills.

You will learn from actual project case studies -

the "How & Why" of how decisions are made,

and how to maximize effectiveness.

During the presentation, we will work through example case-study projects, explore the reasons why games and gamification were the right solutions (given the clients’ needs). Each project had a variety of challenges which led to the final learning solutions. From that, you will learn the "decision factors" that resulted in one project becoming a physical game, and how an online game was the best option for the other project.

Activity Objectives: In this session,
You Will...

  • Identify the difference between games and gamification, and the key attributes of each.
  • Discuss and compare the challenges in example projects.
  • Discover the "decision-factors" that drive the selection of the best solution.
  • Examine case-study projects and their solutions.
