Professionalism in Practice:

Learning Science, Myths, Superstitions, & Misconceptions

...

with

Clark Quinn, Ph.D.

Come on the 28th, declutter your mind of fallacious L&D thinking, and get the world's quickest reboot on what learning can and should be.

The human brain is...

arguably the most complicated thing in the known universe. Designing programs for systematic change involves a bit more than adopting a "let's toss some bullet points on the screen and add a quiz" process.

Here's what's concerning:

What we too often see in practice is the prevalence of many myths, superstitions, and misconceptions about what works.

In this interactive session, we will...

  • Reestablish our grounding in learning science
  • Debunk some learning myths
  • Update, refine, and expand our understanding of some familiar concepts
  • Clarify some of the terms we see
  • Expose some common mistaken beliefs
  • Raise awareness of unconscious practices
  • Identify unhelpful practices

We’ll do a whirlwind tour of learning science; then...

we will close with some practical steps to avoid the junk and implement the scientifically sound learning concepts and constructs that get results.
