We all know that corporate learning and talent development (L&D) plays a critical role in business outcomes, workplace culture, and employee engagement. What’s often overlooked is that employees need training and skills development that aligns with their individual needs, personalities, and learning patterns. Plus, an increased demand for upskilling is driving a shift in the way that training is presented, and the shift has been toward (CBE)....

Benefits of CBE:

  • Productive
  • Adaptable
  • Cost-effective
  • Personalized
Trends Driving the Need for CBE:
  • Retirement ages rising
  • Shorter length of skills relevance
  • Increased need for knowledge transfer
  • Increased demand for results-based programs

What is CBE?

Competency-based education involves moving away from a heavy dependence on seat time to a more dynamic arrangement that allows the learner to advance as they demonstrate mastery of skills or content. It focuses on creating engagement by establishing relevance, and attempts to ensures that skills and knowledge is internalized (and not simply covered).

Topics:

  • Review the main principles of Competency-based Education (CBE)
  • CBE considerations for the learner as well as the instructor/trainer
  • Principles of Universal Design for Learning (UDL)
  • Leveraging UDL to create Competency-Based Education learning material and assessments

Why You Should Come:

If you’re new to CBE…

  • You’ll gain a solid understanding of the basic principles and benefits of CBE
  • You’ll increase your curriculum design & development skills by learning how to develop or streamline corporate training with CBE-specific benefits for learners and trainers alike

If you’re NOT new to CBE…

  • You’ll learn a set of simple and effective strategy (or set of guidelines) to follow that will allow you to build Competency-Based Education learning that works
